Description

The cherry blossom is unique and one of the most beautiful flowers in nature. As such an avenue of cherry blossom trees made for an extremely appealing subject matter.

The inspiration for this scene was the vibrant colour and full range of purples. The pre-arranged composition of the avenue leads the eye into the painting, with the two magpies in the foreground adding life to the scene.

The contrast of the purples with the green of the summer grass makes for an attractive contrast. While the strength of the tree trunks adds solidity to the delicacy of the blossoms.
