Description
During a trip to Place du Tertre, Michael was taken by the buzz of the artists’ square, as well as how relaxed he felt browsing the artwork and how it reminded him of the home of Impressionism. He wanted to capture the scene as he first saw it, with the bustle around the stalls and the distinctive French buildings bordering the square.
He decided on a bright colour palette as a homage to Impressionism, with the autumnal colours in the trees providing a nice harmony with the surrounding buildings and contrasting colours of the cobblestones. Finally, the artists’ umbrellas provided the work with an injection of colour.
Michael’s other Parisian autumn scene from the same trip is Houseboats on the Seine. While similar works you may be interested in are Echoes of Greece and Finlaystone Art Fair.
