Description
This Seine houseboat art was captured during a cold November in Paris. It’s funny how you can be influenced by the subject matter of other artists. Michael was reminded of Claude Monet on his houseboat which doubled as a floating studio, as artists such as Édouard Manet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, John Singer Sargent and Auguste Rodin joined him on painting excursions at the height of Impressionism (joined Monet, not Michael).
The colours of the grey-green water complemented the autumnal rustic trees lining the banks, with splashes of colour dotted along the row of houseboats.
Michael’s other Parisian autumn scene from the same trip was Place du Tertre.
