Description
The Mardavall resort in Costa d’en Blanes, Mallorca is a beautiful place to unwind; and a family trip a few years ago provided Michael with the opportunity to capture this stunning location in all its glory.
The view of the Mediterranean Sea opposite the resort already offered a tempting composition, with the combination of sea, sand and trees being hard to resist. This was further enhanced when a group of friends set up a table for Sunday lunch in the shade of the trees, and in doing so created the perfect subject matter. They gave the work a whole new slant and focal point – providing scale to the trees, which with a little artistic license was just right for a sea view.
The colour contrast between the sand and trees, set against the backdrop of water and pale blue sky encapsulates the warmth of the afternoon sun. With the people’s clothing and boats injecting a splash of colour.
Michael’s other Mediterranean works include Spanish Wildflowers, Italian Wildflowers and Echoes of Greece.
