Loch Lomond Shores

Description

A day trip to Loch Lomond Shores resulted in ideas for two works: this scene and The Busker. From the Shores walkway, the view of Loch Lomond is quite stunning, which meant Michael had no hesitation in capturing the view in pastel.

In the background is Ben Lomond, along with the Paddle Steamer Maid of the Loch, which is now a floating restaurant. While in the foreground are different types of sailing craft, including the small ferry to take you up the Loch.

The summer light gives the work a warm feel, as the green of the surrounding trees and bushes complements the blue of the water and white of the sails. This is a scene that seems to be particularly popular with tourists who have visited the Loch and would like a reminder of their visit.
