Description
This scene has an Impressionistic feel, with the blue water sweeping into the surrounding greenery. The vantage point from Tower hill, just above Gourock town provides a panoramic view of the River Clyde, and is ideal for a painting.
At the base of the hill is the ferry terminal as you look east towards Dumbarton Rock. The view has a high horizon line, which opens up multiple points of interest. In the foreground is Cardwell Bay, with Battery Park in the middle distance and the hills of Helensburgh in the far distance. The blue tones of the Clyde complement the greens and yellows of the surrounding hills and trees.
Another of Michael’s Gourock coastal scenes is Ashton Shore. While Albacores – RWSABC portrays the coast of Greenock.
