Description

Over the years Michael has amassed a number of works that focus on Greenock; especially its harbours, where most of the colourful tugboats and workforce are but a memory. This scene was captured at East India Harbour, next to Victoria Harbour, of which there are a few available giclée prints and fine art cards.

The red and green puffer adds some contrasting colour to the scene. Unfortunately, it’s no longer seen on the Clyde – more’s the pity. The two tugboats with the familiar diamond on their funnel are Campaigner and Warrior which belonged to Cory Tugs. They were often seen working on the River Clyde and the dark colours of their structure gives strength to the overall composition.

Other tugboat works you may be interested in are Clyde Shipping Tugs and Tugs and Snow Clouds. While Custom House Quay is another work which highlights old Greenock.
