This summer landscape work portrays a bevy of swans beside a Greenock riverbank.

It’s a straightforward composition, with a bank of swans resting in the midday sun. It was a natural arrangement without any real requirement to alter the scene, with the exception of lowering the tree line. This draws your eye to the swans and reduces the weight of the foliage.

The pale blues of the water and white of the swans complement the greens to convey a warm summer’s day.
