Description

The scene depicts quiet contemplation in a Cathedral Café in the 1950s. The large windows and high ceilings emphasise light and space, with the silhouetted figures giving a sense of drama.

The still life of the tableware and table tops reflect the outside light source and add to the intimate setting, with the receding tiled floor lending to the perspective. The purple dress offers a contrast with the sandstone shades of the cathedral and mint green colour of the car.
