Description
This winter farm was discovered one early December when Michael came across it while out for a drive looking for subject matter for a snow scene. The rustic reeds in the foreground provided a good contrast for the snow, with its blue shadows, alongside the darker tones of the farm buildings. The recession of the reeded grass giving the painting more depth.
The main focal point is the sunlit hill behind the farm. The slanting lines of the hill keep the focus on the farm, while the darker trees on either side of the composition prevent the eye going outside the frame, and a green-grey cloudless sky keeping the tones in check.
